Project Description : M/s. Madhav Vasistha Hydro Power Private Limited a Joint Venture Company of Madhav Group & Vasistha Group, are jointly developing Barvi Small Hydro Electric Power Project 5 MW ( 2 x 2.50 MW) on Build Operate Transfer (BOT) Basis.
The project activity will generate power using surplus water of 0.75 MCM/day released for 230 days in year from an existing dam (Barvi dam), constructed across the Barvi River, which is a tributary of Ulhas River and joins the latter near the Jambul water works. The generated power from the Barvi power house shall be interconnected through a 22 / 220 KV sub- station at Jambul water works and fed to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). Generation of power is through Clean Development mechanism, as no fossil fuel is fired during the process. The development of the project activity would reduce the green house gas emissions produced by the current regional grid generation mix, which is largely dominated by the fossil fuel based power plants.
